About This Treatment

Dental Crowns & Bridges in Hyderabad
What You Need to Know

Patients searching for dental crowns in Hyderabad commonly ask about zirconia crown cost, whether a crown is needed after root canal treatment, how a tooth cap is fitted, and whether a bridge or dental implant is better for a missing tooth. A crown does not treat every damaged tooth in the same way: the tooth first needs to be assessed for decay, cracks, gum health, remaining structure and root condition. When a crown is appropriate, the tooth is prepared so a laboratory-made restoration can cover and protect it. Zirconia is commonly selected for its strength and tooth-coloured appearance, while E-Max ceramic is often considered for highly visible teeth where translucency is important. PFM crowns combine a metal substructure with tooth-coloured porcelain and may still be useful in selected situations. A fixed bridge replaces a missing tooth by joining a replacement tooth to supporting teeth on either side of the gap. At our Anandbagh, Moula Ali clinic, we also see patients from Malkajgiri, Safilguda, Neredmet, ECIL, AS Rao Nagar, Sainikpuri and nearby Secunderabad areas. We discuss material choice, expected maintenance, treatment alternatives and total cost before the final restoration is made.

How It Works

Your Treatment Journey
Step by Step

1
Examination & Treatment Planning
We assess the tooth or missing-tooth space, gum health, bite, previous dental work and X-rays where required. The first decision is whether a crown or bridge is actually the most suitable treatment.
2
Tooth Preparation & Shade Selection
When a crown or conventional bridge is planned, supporting teeth are shaped under local anaesthesia. The amount of preparation depends on the material and the condition of the tooth. Shade and contour are selected for the surrounding smile.
3
Scan or Impression & Temporary Restoration
A digital scan or conventional impression records the prepared tooth and bite. A temporary crown or bridge may be fitted while the final restoration is fabricated, depending on the treatment plan.
4
Laboratory Fabrication
The final restoration is made in the selected material. Zirconia, E-Max or PFM may be recommended depending on strength requirements, location in the mouth, available tooth structure and aesthetic priorities.
5
Fit, Bite Check & Final Cementation
Before cementation, we check the fit, contacts, shade and bite. Adjustments are made when necessary, then the restoration is bonded or cemented and home-care instructions are provided.

Types of Dental Crowns & Bridges in Hyderabad

E-Max & Ceramic Crowns
E-Max is a lithium-disilicate ceramic valued for natural-looking translucency and colour. It is often considered for visible front or premolar teeth when the bite and remaining tooth structure are suitable. No crown material is best for every patient, so strength, tooth position and grinding habits are considered before recommending it.
High-aesthetic ceramic option for suitable front and premolar teeth
Shade and translucency can be customised to surrounding natural teeth
Selection depends on bite, tooth preparation and the clinical situation
Fixed Dental Bridges
A conventional fixed bridge replaces one or more missing teeth with a connected restoration supported by prepared teeth on either side of the gap. Bridges can restore appearance and chewing function, but they require the supporting teeth to be suitable. For a single missing tooth with healthy neighbouring teeth, a dental implant may be worth comparing because it does not require preparation of the adjacent teeth.
Fixed replacement for selected missing-tooth spaces
Can be useful when supporting teeth already require crowns
Bridge versus implant is discussed according to bone, gums, neighbouring teeth, cost and treatment goals

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Zirconia, E-Max or PFM: which crown suits my tooth?
All three are used routinely; the choice depends on the tooth, your bite and how much the crown shows when you smile. Zirconia is very strong and, when polished, gentle on the teeth it bites against, so it often suits back teeth and people who grind. E-Max is a glass-ceramic with a natural, translucent look, often chosen for front teeth. PFM has porcelain over a metal base: it is strong, but the porcelain can chip over time and expose the metal.
How much does a dental crown or tooth cap cost in Hyderabad?
Crown cost depends on the material (PFM, zirconia or E-Max), the condition of the tooth, whether root canal treatment or a core build-up is needed, and the laboratory work required. We confirm the recommended material and the total treatment cost after examination.
Do I need a crown after root canal treatment?
Many back teeth need cuspal coverage after root canal treatment because they may already have large fillings or substantial loss of tooth structure. A crown is not automatically required for every front tooth or every root canal-treated tooth. The decision depends on how much healthy tooth remains, the location of the tooth, cracks, bite forces and the final restoration needed to reduce fracture risk.
How long do zirconia crowns and dental bridges last?
There is no guaranteed lifespan. Well-made crowns and bridges can function for many years, but longevity depends on the health of the supporting tooth or implant, bite forces, grinding, decay risk, gum health, oral hygiene and maintenance. Regular reviews help identify problems such as decay at a margin, loosening, chipping or gum inflammation early.
Is getting a dental crown painful?
Tooth preparation is normally carried out with local anaesthesia when the tooth is sensitive or vital. You may notice pressure and vibration during the procedure and some temporary sensitivity afterwards. Root canal-treated teeth may feel different because the nerve has already been removed, but the surrounding gum and supporting tissues can still be sensitive.
Should I choose a dental bridge or an implant for a missing tooth?
Both can be appropriate. A bridge may be practical when the teeth next to the gap already need crowns or when implant treatment is not suitable. An implant replaces the missing tooth without preparing healthy neighbouring teeth, but it requires adequate bone, healthy gums and a surgical phase. We compare both options before treatment so the decision is based on your mouth rather than a one-size-fits-all rule.
How many visits are needed for a crown or bridge?
Many laboratory-made crowns and bridges require a preparation visit followed by a fitting visit after fabrication. Additional visits may be needed for root canal treatment, gum treatment, core build-up, bite adjustment or complex aesthetic work. The timeline is confirmed after assessment rather than promising the same number of visits for every case.
Is a crown the same as a cap?
Yes. "Cap" is the everyday word for a dental crown, and some people call it a jacket. It is a covering made to fit over the whole visible part of a tooth, to protect and strengthen it and improve its shape or colour. Crowns can be made from zirconia, E-Max or porcelain fused to metal, depending on the tooth.
What should I do if my crown comes off?
Keep the crown safe and contact the clinic for an appointment. Until then, avoid chewing on that side, keep the tooth clean by brushing gently, and use a sensitive toothpaste if the tooth is sensitive. Don't fix the crown back yourself with household glue. If the crown and the tooth underneath are undamaged, it can often be cleaned and cemented back; otherwise a new crown may be needed.
Does every crown need a root canal first?
No. Many crowns are placed on teeth with a healthy nerve, for example to protect a tooth with a large filling or a crack. The tooth is not removed; it is shaped under local anaesthesia so the crown fits over it. A root canal is needed first only if the nerve is infected or badly inflamed, or sometimes when so little tooth is left that a post is needed to hold the crown.
Can a tooth with a crown still get decay?
Yes. The crown itself can't decay, but the natural tooth underneath can, usually at the edge where the crown meets the gum, especially if plaque builds up there or the crown no longer fits well. Brush along the gumline twice a day, clean between your teeth with floss or interdental brushes, and keep your regular check-ups so problems at the edge are found early.
Is a crown fixed, and will I get a temporary one first?
A crown is cemented or bonded onto the tooth, so you don't take it out. Most crowns are made in a laboratory, so a temporary crown protects the tooth between the preparation and fitting visits. While you have it, avoid sticky food and chewing gum, chew carefully on that side, and slide floss out sideways rather than pulling it up. Contact the clinic if the temporary crown comes off.
